Remember there will be a new Net Radar antenna coming later in the year if you biggest concern is range and sensitivity, this should be a monster like the R series once it is out. You really need to decide what you want out of your system. I would suggest purchasing both as the HiFi set has an external speaker that is very loud and if you do not want to use your phone at any particular time, and when you want to run your phone you need the BT module, which also makes updating the system and changing you ALP profiles quick an easy. Also you have a choice when you purchase the ALP system of a Hifi Control set and BT module. Unfortunately due to patents out there, there is just no way around that. You cannot lockout false alerts with just the control pad. The only thing without using a dedicated phone is that you need your phone to manually lockout falses. or you can use just the control pad with the ALP/NR system.

You can purchase a cheap dedicated Android phone to use with it. But overall the Net Radar is the quieter detector.Īs far as using your phone with the NR. The Net Radar has trouble with Mercedes/some Hondas/ and Audi's. The R series HATE Honda/Acura's and new Chrysler Pacificas. The Net Radar has better K band filtering overall. I know you asking about the R3 and with my limited experience with it, it has serious performance and has generally picked up a signal a couple seconds before my Net Radar, but remember the Net Radar was never touted as a 'long range king' but one of the best 'all around daily driver' detectors. Every detection have given me great real world performance. Alot of variables come into play but i have yet to have a 'oh sh*t' detection with my Net Radar. Saying that, the Net Radar is no slouch, when i was running the Net Radar against my Redline, sometimes the Net Radar would pick up the signal first, and sometimes the Redline would. The R series detectors do have better range and off-axis pickup. Net Radar was developed to integrate with ALP making it one of the best IMHO Radar/Laser jammer system on the market, especially for the price point. Just want to make sure you do not have any of the hardest lidar guns in your area or else you should definitely purchase a triple head system from ALP. First question what state do you live in?.

Great question man and welcome to the forum. Does Net Radar depend on a smartphone to mute and alert for radar threats? Will it just work with the little controller and Hifi? I personally prefer to have less smartphone dependence for radar detector and laser jammers because 1) I always have smartphone navigation running in the forescreen 2) I'm usually running beta smartphone OSes and I can't predict if the Net Radar app will be working with my phone. * Less range and performance than the R3. * Don't ever need to remove or hide it for theft reasons. Once Blendmount comes out, I'll direct wire the R3 so it won't be too big of a deal.
